Milyen a viszonya a plyval?
„lvezetes a plya. Voltak remek htvgim itt, mg a Ferrarinl tlttt id eltt is”- felelte. Nagyszer eljnni ide, klnleges hely. Lenygz tmogatsban van rszed ferrarisknt, remlem, most remekl tudjuk vgezni a dolgunkat. J eslynk van.”
Ferrari heads to its home Formula 1 Grand Prix at Monza in need of a some good news, and Sebastian Vettel thinks that it has come at exactly the right moment.
“I think we need a bit of a boost and support, so (I’m) very much looking forward to this weekend,” said Vettel.
“Last weekend was very positive for us. Obviously the race didn’t unfold the way we expected or we hoped, but it was very positive in terms of pace.”
After being overtaken for second place in the constructors' championship by Red Bull Racing at the Belgium Grand Prix last weekend, and a string of underwhelming performances prior to the summer break, you could have forgiven the four-time champion had he been negative about the team’s chances for this weekend.
Instead, Vettel was fairly upbeat about the car, although he did drop a hint that he could look elsewhere if the team could not deliver results next season, saying, “I’m not a patient person; I’m pretty much the opposite.”
“I’m pretty confident we’ll have better days again and we have our home race ahead of us. I think it will be amazing in terms of support. It’s great to come here, the place means a lot to us, to myself and I think we have a good chance to fight for a good and strong podium – maybe even more. We will see.”
As well as being the home Grand Prix for Ferrari, Monza is also where Vettel became the youngest man to win a Grand Prix when he took victory back in 2008 in the rain for Toro Rosso -- the team’s only victory to date.
“I think the first race win is always something that will stand out and something that you don’t forget. Obviously, I’ve been very lucky in the last couple of years to have some more wins, but for sure, after last year’s experience here, being on the podium in the red suit, I probably realized that, yeah, people don’t hate me as much as I thought after the last couple of years with Red Bull!”
While Christian Horner has said that the majority of Red Bull’s attention has now shifted to the 2017 car already -- with regulations changing dramatically this is not uncommon -- Vettel appeared to suggest that Ferrari are sill putting a significant amount of effort into getting everything out of this year’s car.
“I think it’s clear that all of us inside the team, we are not very patient, we have very high expectations, which I think we’ve expressed many times at the beginning of the year. We want to fight for the championship but, as I said, as a net result so far, we haven’t been competitive and quick enough -- yet.
“We are trying our utmost to improve it. There’s a lot of things happening on the track, even more things happening back in Maranello at the factory to work on that and change that. People are fired up -- even if it still takes a little bit.”
